PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENGENAL KONSEP MATEMATIKA AWAL MELALUI MEDIA QUIET BOOK PADA ANAK KELOMPOK A DI BA AISYIYAH II JAMALAN KLATEN

Abstract

Early mathematical concepts are crucial to examine and constitute an integral component of children's cognitive development. This research was motivated by the inadequate early mathematical abilities observed among Group A children at BA Aisyiyah II Jamalan Klaten. Based on this condition, the researcher attempted to utilize quiet books to enhance children's ability to recognize early mathematical concepts. The research problems were to determine how learning implementation using quiet book media could improve the ability to recognize early mathematical concepts among Group A children at BA Aisyiyah II Jamalan Klaten, and to identify the improvement in early mathematical concept recognition ability after participating in learning activities using quiet book media at BA Aisyiyah II Jamalan Klaten. The research subjects were 25 children from Group A at BA Aisyiyah II Jamalan Klaten. The method employed in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The data collection techniques utilized in this research included interviews, observations, and documentation. The research findings indicate: 1) the implementation of learning to enhance children's numeracy abilities at BA Aisyiyah II Jamalan Klaten was conducted through: a) preparing daily lesson plans (RKH), b) greeting with prayers and conditioning children, c) explaining number symbols and quiet book media, d) explaining play variations, e) demonstrating the use of quiet books, f) providing activities using quiet book media, g) giving rewards to children, h) closing the lesson with prayers and greetings; 2) the improvement in early mathematical concept recognition ability among Group A children at BA Aisyiyah II Jamalan Klaten increased by 35%, with details showing pre-cycle at 48.3%, cycle I at 61.3%, and cycle II at 83.3%. The assessment indicators used were: ability to mention number symbols 1-10, ability to count, and ability to match number symbols with corresponding quantities of objects.
