IMPLEMENTASI KURIKULUM CINTA PADA MATA PELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DI YPI TEUNGKU IE RHEUT

Abstract

Islamic Education (PAI) requires an approach that not only transfers knowledge but also nurtures students’ morals and character. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Love Curriculum in Islamic Education at YPI Teungku Ie Rheut, the role of PAI teachers, students’ responses and development, and the challenges and solutions in its application. A descriptive qualitative approach was used at the Islamic Education Foundation (YPI) Teungku Ie Rheut, Ulee Madon Village, Muara Batu District, North Aceh Regency. The main subject was the PAI teacher, while the informants included the principal, students, and a parent. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, validated through source and technique triangulation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that the Love Curriculum was implemented by integrating compassion, empathy, appreciation, exemplary behavior, and humanistic communication into lesson planning, classroom delivery, methods and media, and assessment. PAI teachers acted as role models, empathetic facilitators, motivators, and character mentors. Its implementation positively affected students’ learning motivation, mutual respect, character development, and a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment. Challenges, namely differences in teachers’ understanding, limited resources, diverse student backgrounds, and limited class time, were addressed through teacher training, resource optimization, individual approaches, and the integration of the values into all school activities. This study concludes that the implementation of the Love Curriculum in PAI learning contributes positively to students’ character and moral development in line with the Islamic educational value of rahmatan lil ‘alamin.
